Do you need help?

At Patucos, we merge classic fashion, which for us represents elegance, culture, quality, and timelessness, with contemporary fashion that brings fun, courage, and freedom. We seek a balance between both worlds, as this is our way of expressing ourselves. We don't just mix styles; we also mix prints, fabrics, colors, patterns… thus expanding our capacity for expression; and without forgetting accessories, our favorites. Accessories, like children, are the smallest yet the most expressive, playing a main role in every look.

The word 'express' comes from the Latin 'expressio' derived from the verb 'exprimere,' which means 'to squeeze out.' The prefix 'ex-' evokes the idea of 'outward' and 'primere' refers to 'to press' or 'to squeeze.' Thus, the original meaning of 'express' is related to the idea of bringing something out from within. It invites us to imagine the act of releasing thoughts, emotions, or ideas.

Our inspiration?
Children, the true masters of expression; those who express themselves freely and spontaneously.

Our aspiration?
Empowering them to continue daring to explore, experiment, and express themselves, while preserving their essence, defending their ideals, and pursuing their dreams.
Our origin
For centuries, some cities in the north of Spain have been characterised by a classic and distinctive style of dress. The ports of San Sebastian, Bilbao and Santander opened their people to the outside world, and trends and styles arrived from the British Isles that still survive and surprise with their elegance.

Marta de Codes
In 2003, Marta de Codes left her profession as a pharmacist to open the first children's accessories store in Madrid. In just thirteen square meters, in the heart of the Salamanca neighborhood, she gathers those essences. Trends that the uniformity of current fashion blurs and that she intends to keep alive.

Undertake
The decision to leave her career and start her own business was an easy one. She was convinced that the spirit cultivated during her childhood was untapped, and every summer in Santander, she wondered why she had to buy accessories for her daughters there; why it was impossible to find what she was looking for in Madrid. And she sadly watched as that classic children's fashion imprint, so characteristic of northern Spain, was disappearing.

Booties
“Patucos”, the nickname she was called as a child, is the business project where Marta has forged this dream, now a reality. One of her ancestors was a visionary who, in addition to creating large companies, invented the wave bath on Sardinero beach in Santander; another, a stubborn Irish count… Could these two entrepreneurial characters from the 19th century have something to do with this 21st century dream?
